Control Point: Create a placement

3 min. readlast update: 04.22.2025

1. Under the Placement section, click on the Geometry button to go to a map of the project.

2. On the map of the project, find the location of the control point through one of the following ways:

a. Use the map and geographical markers to determine your location.

b. Click the Center button in the top left corner of the page, which will take you to your GPS location if you have GPS.

Note: Depending on your GPS’ accuracy, the location that shows may be more exact or less exact.

c. Use the black crosshair in the center of your screen (which is associated with the station and offset in the bottom left corner of the screen). Use that information to find the location of your work and generate your placement.

d. Select a point on the map. A pink dot will appear that has the station and offset of that selected point showing. Use that information to find the location of your work and generate your placement.

Note: This is also associated with the Station, Offset, and Alignment boxes in the top right corner of the screen.

3. Generate your placement by clicking the Add Lot button. A pop-up will appear with the following options:

a. Sketch: Click the Sketch button, then click on the map to create points outlining the geometry for your lot. After you have created your geometry, click the Finish button to finalize it.

i. Undo button: Undo the previous action done to create your geometry.

ii. Redo button: Redo a previously undone action.

iii. Cancel button: Cancel your currently drawn geometry (if you haven’t clicked the Finish button yet).

Note:

1. You can make the geometry as complicated as necessary by adding more points to the geometry to outline your lot accurately.

2. You can click and drag any previously created points to adjust the geometry to be as accurate as possible.

3. You can move any selected point of the geometry 1 foot in any direction using the arrow buttons in the bottom right corner.

b. Text Entry: Click the Text Entry button, then enter the station and offset for up to four points in the text boxes. Then click Accept to create and finalize the geometry for your lot from those points.

Note: If the points you enter do not make sense geometrically, the app will not be able to create the geometry and will show an error message based on what the problem is.

c. Import: Click the Import button. A File Explorer window will appear. If you have an Excel file ready with the station and offset information of your desired geometry, you can find the file in the window and click Import to generate the geometry for your lot.

4. Click the back arrow in the top left corner to return to the Control Point report page.
